Job Description

Quality Testing and Inspection

  • Quality Standards: within the Group and customer standards, document and communicate fabric quality standards to relevant departments (e.g. CSP and Operations, etc.)
  • Fabric Inspection: hold immediate team accountable for visually inspecting incoming fabrics against the quality standards and providing the reports to relevant departments. Monitor the performance of inspection staff against established SOPs and address issues as needed.
  • Fabric, Sub-Materials, and Garment Testing: hold immediate Employees (IEs) accountable for testing incoming fabrics and sub-materials, and testing finished products against the quality standards and providing the reports to relevant departments. Monitor the performance of testing staff against established SOPs and address issues as needed. Follow up with downstream departments to ensure the suggestions given by the laboratory (e.g. shrinkage and shading) are applied correctly.
  • Customer Certification: oversee the process of obtaining and maintaining customer certifications of the Lab, and hold direct reports accountable for maintaining the proper documentation and following customer testing standards.
  • Training: Provide the necessary training and support to Sample Room, Pattern, CS, Purchasing, MM, Cutting and Sewing to interpret the materials inspection and test results.
  • Technical Support: provide technical advice to CSP in dealing with customers on fabric and sub-materials-related issues.
  • Continuous Improvement: keep updated on new technologies, tools, and methods in the market to improve Laboratory’s inspection and testing capabilities. Share continuous improvements with other Factories. Proactively seek out and adopt continuous improvements from other Factories as appropriate.
  • Performance Monitoring: oversee the performance summary of the incoming fabric quality submitted by Immediate Employees (IEs) and work with the claim team to feedback to the suppliers or the HK Fabric Sourcing team for improvement.
  • Supplier Alignment: meet and discuss with suppliers as needed to align the quality expectations. Provide feedback to suppliers to achieve continuous improvements as required

Problem Solving

  • Solutions, Incoming Material: provide technical trouble-shooting and/or chemistry-based solutions to issues with incoming fabric and sub-materials. Collaborate with suppliers to find the best technical solution.
  • Solutions, Production Process: provide support for materials issues discovered during cutting, sewing and washing, and provide special treatment-based solutions to garments.
  • Knowledge Sharing: share successful solutions to the Group Lab Manager to spread best practices across the Group.

Fabric QC Inspector Engagement

  • Operator Expectations: identify key expectations of fabric QC inspectors for their jobs
  • Effective Working Relationships: work to meet the key expectations of fabric QC inspectors where appropriate, and build and maintain effective and respectful working relationships to drive high fabric QC inspector engagement.

Managerial Leadership of Immediate Team

  • Business Context: communicate the ‘bigger picture’ context in which IEs need to plan and execute work (e.g. world, country, industry, Group, customer and inter-departmental considerations).
  • Collaborative Teamwork: establish the process for meeting regularly and holding IEs accountable for effective and collaborative teamwork at their level.
  • IE Performance Management*: agree on SMART goals and assignments with each IE and provide continuous managerial guidance and feedback. Provide support for enhancing performance in the current role, conduct mid-year progress reviews and determine year-end performance appraisal ratings
  • IE Development*: assess the strengths and development needs of each IE and coach him/her in developing their FSKs and MLCs in line with the Role Profile of his/her current job.
  • Recognition and Reward: provide differential recognition and recommendations for reward incentives for IEs (pay, promotion, development opportunities).
  • De-selection: recommend re-assignment or termination of IEs where appropriate, supported by a fair ‘due process’ and structured performance improvement program.
  • Appeals Process: provide an appeals process for the employee’s one level down (EoDs) who have a grievance with his/her Immediate Manager (IM).

Working location: 60km far from Hanoi, Vietnam

Working time: Office hours from Monday to Friday
