Job Description

  • Drive business impact
    • Organize, plan and deliver training based on the lean principles throughout the supply chain, including sourcing and vendor factories
    • Provide strategic lean leadership and tactical support and partner with key stakeholders.
    • Drive and execute vision and objectives for Company’s manufacturing excellence program.
    • Identify improvement opportunities with quantifiable business benefits. Recommend the best methods of space, manpower, materials and equipment utilization in production facilities.
    • Lead the analysis and re-engineering of the vendor’s production and transactional processes at specific sites as defined by the Director of Engineering
    • Participate directly or indirectly in kaizen events.
    • Analyzes data, reports and process to improve the productivity and profitability of the operations through initiation and implementation of projects that optimize costs, efficiency and quality
  • Engage and cultivate Lean principles
    • Coach teams and individuals on Manufacturing Excellence and lean principles to drive improvement.
    • Design and implement lean processes and systems while following the PDCA cycle.
    • Drive planning, leading and facilitating effective kaizen events.
    • Collaborate and drive benchmarking and best practices across vendor factories.
    • Promote and ensure lean practices throughout company and external vendors.
  • Leadership – Coaching & Training
    • Manage conflict at many levels of the organization and able to effectively lead cross functional process improvement teams, and mentor /advise management on the formulation and implementation of process improvement plans.
    • Teach, coach and mentor process owners and leaders on how to sustain results.

Job Requirements

  • Training and/or Certification with Six Sigma, SPC, 5-S, TMC, Project Management, Facilitation or other quality/process improvement processes a plus
  • 10+ years “hands-on” experience in developing and implementing lean manufacturing processes.
  • Team player; must be able to establish teams and manage projects.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure and to keep composure in stressful situations
  • Good understanding of a variety of measurement techniques and good analytical skills
  • Hands-on, in-depth knowledge of lean and continuous improvement methodologies. Capable of leading and implementing the practical application of the full range of lean methods on the plant floor. Must have implemented lean practices in several different plants or operating environments.
  • Strong leadership skills demonstrated through championing accountability, maximizing team and individual strengths, seeking and implementing change, and aligning with critical plant and business objectives.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects/initiatives with budget limits and time constraints.
  • Able to work effectively with multiple levels of management and represented work groups
  • Demonstrate experience in fundamental lean tools and concepts, e.g. VSM, 5S, standard work, continuous flow, line balance)
  • Strong analytic problem solving skills (8D, PDCA or DMAIC etc.)
  • Good collaboration, understanding and respect others.
  • Ability to work independently and with all levels of managers and associates
  • Strong coaching, facilitation and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in complex and matrix business and projects area, leveraging interpersonal skills and technical skills to optimize results
  • An understanding of and proficiency in change management
  • Must be proactive, creative and a hands-on change agent
  • Has managed the transformation of value streams or plants, by organizing lean events, projects, training and organizational changes necessary to achieve a sustained transformation
  • System thinker and passionate for lean principles
  • Passionate to continue to learn and explore. Excellent skills in dealing with fast pace, challenging and often “impossible” situations; must like solving problems and getting the job done.
